Find your local city and state leaders and reach out to them directly. Send an email, make a phone call, or schedule a meeting with their office to let them know more about the issue and the solutions you’d like to see them support.
Increased funding and broader supportive services for animal shelters, public access to affordable spay/neuter and veterinary services, funding of pet food pantries, sufficient owner surrender prevention programs, regulatory oversight and transparency for private equity stakeholders investing in or buying out businesses in your area, PSAs to inform the public of available services, animal care education in public schools.
The issues of affordability, private equity roll-ups, access to spay/neuter services, and outdoor cat overpopulation extend far outside of New York City. Contacting and building relationships with local leaders is an important step in advocating for solutions and creating change. Contact your the people representing your locale — at the town, city, county, state, or provincial levels — and inform them about the issues and solutions important to you.
