Council Member Justin Brannan

We’re a coalition of cat rescuers across the five boroughs, organizing to advocate for NYC government funding and resources.

Our Mission

We are working to eliminate outdoor cats in New York City through TNR. Some volunteers have been trapping cats and getting them spayed or neutered for more than 20 years, and we’re not seeing progress in the city’s most underserved communities. Without significant intervention and support from the city government, the feral cat population will continue exploding in our poorest neighborhoods.

The problem is made worse by:

  • A nationwide shortage of veterinarians has drastically reduced discounted spay/neuter appointments for rescuers and driven up the cost of private appointments, making it unaffordable for the average pet owner

  • Income inequality has concentrated the feral cat overpopulation in NYC’s low-income neighborhoods

  • A lack of city fund and services has resulted in the feral cat problem falling on the shoulders of low-wage earning residents of the under-resourced neighborhoods with the most cats
